The quick walkthrough

The spoken walkthrough, narrated with Archie, an AI voice generated using ElevenLabs.

Real app screens with fictional demonstration records. Camera, GPS, time changes, and connection loss are simulated. Live Google authorization and Stripe checkout are explained. Payment confirmation screens are component previews.

0:00 · Good parking. Every step.

Welcome to PlatePermit. Let's take a quick tour, from applying for a permit to checking the lot.

0:06 · An actual app demonstration.

These are real app screens with fictional records. Camera and location are simulated. I'll explain sign-in and card payment, but we're not making a real transaction here.

0:17 · Apply for a parking permit.

Let's start with an application. Find your organization, add your details, and submit the required documents.

0:24 · Find your organization.

Choose Get a permit and search for your organization. Check its name and logo, then open the result. A direct link from your parking office works too.

0:34 · Choose the open period.

Check the open permit period, price, and end date, then choose Apply. Already have a permit? My permits is where you check it, renew, or manage a temporary car.

0:45 · Use the correct account.

When Google sign-in is required, use the account you want connected to your permit. Updates go to that email, so return with the same account later.

0:54 · Enter the holder’s details.

Enter the holder's name and requested identification and contact details. Choose the location if needed. Your verified email stays read-only.

1:04 · Choose the permit option.

Now choose the permit option. Extra rates can have their own price, offer dates, and quantity limits. Check which option fits before moving on to the vehicle.

1:15 · Add the vehicle.

Enter the full plate and state, including any small stacked letters. Then add the year, make, model, and color. A quick check here helps avoid a confusing lookup later.

1:26 · Consent, then continue.

Check the details and accept the required Terms and Privacy Policy, then continue to documents. No payment is taken before office review.

1:36 · Scan the license front.

Choose Scan your license. Frame the front with every edge visible, avoid glare, and tap the shutter for a clear photo.

1:45 · Flip and capture the back.

Now flip the card and capture the back. It's one guided scan for both sides, so you don't need to start a separate upload for the second photo.

1:54 · Check both photos.

Check both photos and retake either side if needed. Use these photos starts uploading. You can also select existing photos.

2:04 · Add the other documents.

Choose insurance and registration files, with expiration dates when required. They upload automatically; wait for Uploaded before moving on.

2:13 · Submit for review.

When everything is ready, choose Submit application. Now you're waiting for office review. Keep the private link and confirmation email so you can return when there's an update.

2:25 · From application to active permit.

Let's switch to the office. Staff review the application, assign the lot, and handle payment.

2:30 · Work from the queue.

Open Review queue, Waiting on applicant, Active, or Closed. Search by name, email, or plate, then open the holder's record.

2:41 · Review details and documents.

Check the holder, vehicle, and documents using View in the staff record. Document access is audited; enforcement doesn't see those files.

2:52 · Request a clear correction.

If something needs fixing, write a clear note and choose Request update. The applicant sees exactly what you're asking for, both on the application and in the email.

3:02 · Replace, then resubmit.

Replace the requested file, wait for upload, then Submit application again. Uploading alone doesn't return the application to the review queue.

3:12 · Approve and assign the lot.

Once it's ready, choose the lot and approve. A paid permit then waits for payment. If you need to deny instead, include the reason; a denied application isn't charged.

3:24 · Record office payment.

For office payments, receive the cash or check first. Then add a note if useful and choose Record cash or check. The permit becomes active and gets its number.

3:35 · Online payment also activates.

With Stripe connected, the applicant can pay online and confirmation runs automatically. This is a preview of the success state. In the real flow, wait for confirmation before trying another payment.

3:48 · The plate is the permit.

Active means the plate is now the permit. The page shows the number and lot; there's nothing to print. Free permits activate on approval, and emails confirm the outcome.

3:59 · Corrections and revocation.

Staff can also correct a plate and review the audit history. Revoke a permit with a reason when needed. Eligible card payments may have a remaining-term refund shown.

4:11 · Keep your coverage current.

Borrowing a car? Let's manage temporary coverage, switch back, and renew for the next period.

4:18 · Add the temporary vehicle.

In My permits, add the temporary plate, state, and vehicle details. Choose Cover this vehicle, then check the coverage end date shown.

4:28 · Coverage switches to the temporary car.

Here's the important part: coverage moves to the temporary car. Your usual plate isn't covered meanwhile. You're switching which car uses the permit, not getting a second parking pass.

4:41 · Extend or switch back.

Extend when the option becomes available, or choose I'm back in my usual vehicle to end it early. Otherwise, coverage switches back when the temporary period expires. The history stays available.

4:53 · Temporary coverage has limits.

Only one temporary replacement can run at a time. It can't be your usual plate, overlap another active permit, or continue beyond the permit's end date. Check rejected entries before parking.

5:06 · Renew for the next term.

Choose Renew my permit when offered. Check the prefilled details, update changes, and confirm the information and consent before reviewing documents.

5:17 · Replace outdated documents.

Eligible documents carry forward. Replace outdated ones, like this expired insurance, then submit the renewal. Review and payment still apply.

5:27 · Check the cars in the lot.

Now let's check the lot. Use lookup for one plate, or capture a full scan.

5:32 · Look up a plate.

Green means valid. Amber needs checking, such as a temporary switch or expired document. Red means missing or revoked coverage. Always verify the plate.

5:44 · Offline lookup uses a saved list.

Load lookup online to save its list. Offline results show the saved timestamp and may miss newer changes. Refresh when you're back online.

5:54 · Choose the lot and start.

Choose the lot, start the scan, and allow camera and location access. Location helps place cars on the map, but always verify the actual plate in front of you.

6:05 · Auto captures a steady plate.

With Auto on, hold the plate steady in the frame. The green ring fills, then captures. You can still tap the shutter manually, switch Auto off, or undo the last photo.

6:17 · Keep walking and capturing.

Move to the next car and keep capturing. Photos stay in this tab until Finish starts reading them. Keep the page open until the scan is reviewed and saved.

6:27 · Finish, then review every reading.

After Finish, compare readings with photos. Correct mistakes, remove unusable captures, or add a verified plate manually before saving the report.

6:38 · Recover a connection failure.

If the connection fails, the remaining photos stay in review. Restore the signal and choose Read the rest. You can Capture more if needed, then select See the report.

6:50 · Verify before recording a warning.

Here's the report. Use the categories and map, but verify the car before recording a warning.

6:56 · Use the map and categories.

Aerial and street maps help locate the cars. Location is approximate, so match the plate label. Duplicate readings merge, and a capture without location still appears in the report.

7:09 · Record warnings deliberately.

Check warning history and the next strike, then verify the plate. Recorded warnings show Already warned today, with undo available when permitted.

7:19 · Bulk warnings skip uncertain cases.

Bulk warnings skip uncertain matches, plates warned today, and plates now covered. Staff still verify the actual vehicles before recording warnings.

7:29 · Both cars are in the lot.

Now for the both-cars case. This scan includes the usual car and its temporary replacement. The usual plate needs attention because coverage was switched away, and the red note identifies the linked car.

7:42 · Both records carry the warning.

The temporary car's row is flagged too, even though it's the covered vehicle. Staff can see that both cars were found, verify the situation, and follow the parking office's policy. It doesn't automatically issue a ticket.

7:56 · Later changes stay clear.

An old scan keeps its original category. If the plate gains coverage later, Has a permit now appears. A new scan reflects the updated coverage.

8:07 · Review saved scans.

Office staff can revisit saved scans from Scan reports. Reports stay for fourteen days, while warning history is kept separately for the permit year. Use the report link to inspect the details.

8:19 · Set up the way your office works.

Finally, let's look at notifications and setup, so the system fits the way your office works.

8:26 · Choose your email updates.

Choose personal daily, weekly, or monthly summaries, set their delivery time, and save. Instant alerts are separate; sample emails preview the messages.

8:36 · Share the correct links.

Copy Application for new requests, or Account for existing applicants' My permits. Share the appropriate link so people reach the right page.

8:46 · Set pricing and availability.

Set the permit period, price, and availability. Add dated price brackets or limited extra rates as needed. Existing applications retain their quoted price.

8:57 · Configure the organization.

Settings controls locations, lots, branding, documents, expiration tracking, retention, and sign-in and vehicle rules. These choices shape the organization's workflow.

9:10 · Invite the appropriate role.

Invite the exact Google-account email and choose owner, admin, reviewer, or enforcement. Update roles as responsibilities change, and remove access when it's no longer needed.

9:23 · Payments and operating usage.

Connect Stripe for card payments; cash and checks remain available. Settings also shows optional processing fees and monthly operating usage.

9:34 · Platform administrators manage organizations.

Platform administrators create organizations and invite owners. Owners finish setup, including an open permit term. Each organization's office manages its own applications.

9:46 · A smoother way to park.

That's PlatePermit. Use the chapters to revisit a step, or open the full guide for more detail.
