Terms of Use

PlatePermit is parking permit software provided by Luma Tech Digital (“PlatePermit,” “we”). These Terms apply to platepermit.com and to every PlatePermit site operated for a school, association, employer, municipality, or other organization (an “Organization”). By using any of them you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Who does what

• Organizations run their own parking programs. Each one sets its permit rules, prices, required documents, and parking regulations; decides whether to approve, deny, or revoke a permit; receives permit payments; decides refunds; and enforces parking.
• PlatePermit provides the software only. We do not issue permits, make approval decisions, set prices, receive permit fees, own or operate any parking facility, or issue citations or tow vehicles.
• An Organization's site may show additional terms specific to its permit program. Organizations that subscribe to PlatePermit do so under a separate written agreement, which controls if it conflicts with these Terms.

2. Applicants

• Provide accurate, current information and only documents that are genuine and that you have the right to submit. False or altered information may lead to denial or revocation without refund, and any other action the Organization's rules allow.
• If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf.
• The private link to your application works like a password. Anyone who has it can view your application status and add documents to it, so keep it to yourself.

3. Staff and enforcement users

• Access is by invitation from your Organization and is personal to you. Do not share your sign-in, and tell your Organization's administrator promptly if you suspect misuse.
• Use applicant information only for your Organization's parking program and as your Organization's policies and the law allow. Document views are logged.
• Lookup results and reminders are aids, not determinations. Verify before citing, booting, or towing a vehicle; those decisions are yours and your Organization's.

4. What a permit is — and is not

• The license plate is the permit. A permit is valid only for the plate(s), lot, and term shown, and only while active.
• A permit is permission to park where the Organization allows. It does not guarantee that a space will be available, and it is not a bailment or a promise to guard any vehicle. Parking is at the vehicle owner's risk.
• Citations, fines, booting, and towing are decided and carried out by the Organization or its enforcement personnel, never by PlatePermit.

5. Payments and refunds

• Permit payments are requested only after an application is approved. Card payments are processed by Stripe and paid directly to the Organization, which is the merchant for the purchase. PlatePermit never holds applicants' money and never sees card numbers.
• Refunds, billing questions, and payment disputes are handled by the Organization under its own refund policy. Please contact its parking office before disputing a charge with your bank.

6. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to access other people's information, probe or bypass security, overload or disrupt the service, upload malicious files, scrape the service, or submit applications with automated tools. We may suspend or block access to protect the service and its users.

7. Our content

The PlatePermit name, software, and site content belong to Luma Tech Digital and may not be copied or reverse engineered except as the law allows. Information and documents you submit remain yours or your Organization's; you give us permission to handle them only as needed to run the service.

8. Availability and disclaimer

We work to keep the service available and accurate, but it is provided “as is” and “as available,”without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. It may be interrupted, delayed, or contain errors. An outage does not extend an Organization's deadlines or excuse parking without a valid permit unless the Organization says so.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Luma Tech Digital, its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any parking citation, fine, towing or impound cost, vehicle damage or theft, lost time, or lost data, arising from or related to the service or any permit. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the permit at issue or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. An Organization's rights and remedies against us are set by its written agreement with us, not by this section.

10. Disputes

Disputes about a permit decision, a citation or tow, a price, or a refund are between you and the Organization and are handled under its policies. Any claim against Luma Tech Digital about the software itself is governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, must be brought in the state or federal courts located there, and must be brought within one year after it arises, to the extent the law permits.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms; the effective date above will change, and new permit applications will be asked to agree to the current version. Permit questions go to your Organization's parking office. Questions about the software: support@platepermit.com.
